Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has commended the Study Team on the Environmental Impact Assessment of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) for their viral commitment and dedication to the project.
Chief Obasanjo gave the commendation when the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, led the Study Team whose membership were largely drawn from UNAAB.
Presenting an Executive Summary of the Environmental Impact Assessment of OOPL, the Leader of the Study Team, Prof. Toyin Arowolo said the study involved Soil Evaluation, Geographical Survey, Flora and Fauna, Water quality, Air and House Evaluation and Socio-economic.
He pointed out that standard procedures were employed in all the studies.
Professor Arowolo, who is the outgoing Dean of College of Environmental Resources Management (COLERM) said the EIA is designed to ensure that the Principles of sustainable development are strictly adhered to in all the operations of OOPL.
The Balogun of Owu who could not hide his joy for the study team’s unflinching support, said its dedication has further encouraged him to continue the OOPL project without looking back.
Speaking extempore at the parley which was informal, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Balogun commended the efforts of Chief Obasanjo at making OOPL a success.
He prayed God for continuous provision and guidance for the project.
