Industrial Park Unit (IPU) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has participated at the 2019 Nigerian Raw Materials (NIRAM) Expo held at Landmark Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos from 12th to 14th March, 2019.

IPU joined over 3000 leading Manufacturers and other Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from West Africa at the NIRAM Expo organised for affordable end of line manufacturing machinery, tools and solutions.

The exhibition is the official Trade Fair for the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) (Event Patron) and was organized with the support and participation of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (Host Ministry) and Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Host Chamber).

The event which ran concurrently with NIRAM raw materials including cash crops, cassava, cocoa, cotton and minerals which can be purchased from local and international exhibitors had household names such as Dangote Group, Procter & Gamble, Guinness, Nestle Nigeria and Unilever on the roll call of exhibitors.

FUNAAB was the cynosure of all eyes with large patronage as participants and exhibitors thronged in massively to buy the products from the Industrial Park Unit of the University.

‘Cassava Bread’.

The FUNAAB C:AVA II exhibition stand became a make-shift bar as the FUNAAB Bottled Palm Wine was a beautiful bride with hundreds of participants popping the chilled Palm Wine with over 200 loaves of FUNAAB Cassava Bread shared freely to visitors to the stand.

The University’s Odourless Fufu, Plantain Flour, packaged Poundo Yam Flour, Palm Oil, etc., enjoyed great patronage.

Fielding questions from newsmen, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Professor Lateef Sanni, enumerated the research outputs of the University that have translated to some of the products on display.

He emphasized that Nigeria can only achieve affordable, healthy foods if all Universities follow the footprints of FUNAAB and embrace farming and value addition.

The Industrial Park Unit of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta’s participation was sponsored by C:AVA II Nigeria alongside with other Cassava SMEs and large scale factories.
