… Pro-Chancellor, VC Okay Exercise
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, (arrowed), Chief Olakunle Osayemi, accompanied by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun inspecting prospective Post-UTME candidates undergoing ICT Practical Training Session at the University Central Laboratory.
The University Governing Council on Friday paid an on-the-spot assessment visit to scores of prospective Post-UTME candidates, undergoing ICT practical training, for the examination, at the Central Computer Laboratory.
Led by their Chairman and Pro-Chancellor, Chief Olakunle Osayemi , the Council members, who were accompanied by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun and some top officers of the University, arrived the Central Computer Laboratory at exactly 10:42am, in a convoy of two (2) buses.
They were warmly received by the Director of the University Information and Communication Technology Resource Centre (ICTREC), Dr. Abayomi Oguntoye.
On the entourage of the Chairman were some Council members, namely, Dr. Solomon Laditi, Mr. Joseph Lajuwomi, Mrs C.A Obioha, Dr. Ben Efienemokwu, Professor Olalade Enikuomehin, Professor Francis Bamiro, Dr. Olusola Akinwande and the Secretary to Council/Acting Registrar, Mr. Adeleke Adeboye.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Professor Chryss Onwuka, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Professor Segun Lagoke, the Acting Bursar, Mr. Moses Ilesanmi and the Director, Executive Affairs, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mrs. Christianah Kuforiji.
Moments after their arrival, Dr. Oguntoye conducted Chief Osayemi and Professor Balogun and other revered members of the Council and Management respectively round the Computer Laboratory Centre, in the glare of prospective students who were undergoing training.
Speaking at the end of the visit, the Chairman, Governing Council, Chief Osayemi described the training as a necessity for the students.
According to him, “It is a quantum leap in the development of education.
“A lot of brilliant students today are wasting because they are not ICT compliant. This training will help the incoming students to be better acquainted with the use of computer”.
Also reacting, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun said, “I am impressed. Our ICTREC has blazed the trail again. Ours is the first university that will prepare prospective UTME students for e-examination. Instead of losing talents because of lack of ICT knowledge, we are contributing our quota by training them”.
