— PPU Assures Varsity Community
Members of the University Community have been reassured that the institution’s authorities would not compromise on standard quality on the newly reconstructed Ceremonial Road.
To this effect, the Physical Planning Unit has confirmed that the contractor handling the road, Messrs Oriental Femab-Amimike Quarry and Construction Ltd. will rectify all noted defects, in line with the Defects Liability Period, before the contract is discharged.
According to a release, signed by its Director, Mr. Babatunde Ayodele, the Unit noted that though the contractor had completed the Project and handed-over to the University in June, 2011, it observed the occurrence of some defects on the Ceremonial Road and had communicated same to the Consultant for the project, Messrs. Alf & Partners.
It further stated, “the consultant has written a letter to the contractor, to return to site and rectify the defect on the road within the next seven days from the date of the letter”, adding that the contractor had promised to rectify the defects.
Observations by FUNAAB Bulletin, as at the time of going to Press, indicate the return to site and maintenance activities on the road by the contractor.
