SSANU Chairman, Com. Abdussobur Salaam
It was jubilation galore for the incumbent Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Comrade Abdussobour Salaam, as he secured an emphatic victory for another term in office.
At the Triennial Congress elections, held at the Promise Adewusi-SSANU Secretariat Complex, Comrade Salaam polled a total of 205 votes against 99 votes by his challenger, Comrade Kehinde Aderinboye.
In another contest, Comrade Samson Obimakinde with 175 votes defeated Comrade Emmanuel Akinbo, who had 124 votes, to clinch the position of Treasurer.
The elections, conducted under a peaceful atmosphere, were supervised by the National Vice-President (West), Comrade Alfred I. Jimoh.
Also present were delegates from the University of Lagos, while Mr. Olukayode Osinuga of the University’s Bursary Department, stood-in as the Electoral Officer.
With the elections, eight currently serving SSANU Exco members were issued certificates of return, to steer the affairs of the Union, for the next three years.
The elected officers are: Comrade Abdussobur Salaam, Chairman; Comrade Magbagbeade Abolanle, Vice-Chairman; Comrade Williams O. Fasunwon, Secretary; and Comrade Sanusi S. Iyanda, Assistant Secretary.
Others are: Mrs. Eyiowuawi Adenike, Trustee; Comrade Adeyemi Olafimihan, Public Relations Officer; Comrade Adeleke Hafees, Financial Secretary; and Comrade Bolanle Adebesin, Women Leader.
