Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), last Thursday took the centre stage of honour at the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Abeokuta Branch’s investiture of its new Chairman, induction of new members, Award Ceremony and Quarterly Lecture.
FUNAAB was the cynosure of all eyes at the event, held at the Adesba Hotel, Panseke, Abeokuta as five members of the University Community and students took turn to receive plaques and certificates as a mark of honour.
A Professor of Food Engineering, Department of Agricultural Engineering, FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Adewale Adewumi led the team of honorees, who did the University proud at the event.
Prof. Adewumi, who was accompanied to the event by his wife bagged the NSE Award of Excellence, amid pomp and pageantry.
Moments after he received the Award, the Dean of College of Engineering (COLENG), Prof. Samuel Adejuyigbe and Prof. Joel Esiri, were joined by other members of the University community to felicitate with the awardees.
The tempo of accolades for FUNAAB heightened when two undergraduates won a keenly contested Essay competition in Engineering by emerging Second and Third respectively.
They are: Ajibade, Seun of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Okpala, Ifeanyi Udodilim of the Department of Civil Engineering.
In the same vein, two members of the University Community, Miss. Olusola Olufunke Nuga and Mr. Benedict Uche Anyanwu were also inducted as new members of NSE.
In his acceptance speech, the new and the 11th Chairman of NSE, Engr. Revd. Awotunde Adebola Awolana promised to sustain the confidence reposed in him by taking the Society to greater heights.
Engr. Awotunde, who is the Acting General Manager of the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) sought the cooperation of all stakeholders towards making his tenure a huge success.
