The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has attributed the ground breaking performance of the University in the last World Web Ranking released last week, to the doggedness and cooperation of the entire workforce and students of the institution.

Professor Balogun said he was most elated by the performance of the institution, coming all the way from its 7th position to emerge second in Nigeria and 35th from its former 60th continental ranking of July, 2011.

The Vice-Chancellor said, “I can only just attribute the success to the efforts and cooperation of all staff and students, in driving the good vision that the current administration has for the University.
There is no denying the fact that this feat can only be described as an icing on the cake for an administration that is winding-down, to achieve such monumental leap, even above most other first and second generation universities in the country.

You will recall that we were not even rated at all at a stage and it was appearing as if we were inferior to others, but to the glory of God and the strong determination of all stakeholders, we are today considered as second in the country and 35th out of 695 Universities from 48 different countries of Africa”, the Vice-Chancellor added.

Professor Balogun reiterated that his administration would not let-off steam, regardless of the few months it had in the saddle before the expiration of the tenure, assuring community members and general public that other outstanding performances should be expected from the University.

Professor Balogun said the ranking would further boost the University’s internationalization drive and that the institution’s strength in youthful dynamism would be fully explored to bring the University into good reckoning on the global stage.
