The Visitor to the University and Commander-in-Chief of Nigerian Armed Forces, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has reinstated the appointment of the Governing Council of the University.
The Visitor had therefore directed that the members of the hitherto dissolved Council, should return and serve out its present term.
The Presidential approval was conveyed to the University by the National Universities’ Commission (NUC) in a letter with reference No. NUC/ES/138/Vol.59/54, dated 9th February 2011.
The letter read in part, “I am glad to convey the approval of Mr. President; Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan… Council of your University should continue and serve out its present term”.
“Please convey Mr. President’s directive to the Pro-Chancellor and other members of your Governing Council”, the letter stated.
Meanwhile, Members of the Governing Council led by the Chairman, Chief Lawrence Ayinde Olakunle Osayemi had resumed duties with the commencement of the 69th statutory Meeting of the Council on Monday, February 24, 2012.
