History will be made on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 as Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole, a Professor of Food Science and Technology takes over the baton of leadership as the 5th Vice-Chancellor of the University.
The tenure of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun will formally end on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.
Reliable sources informed that Professor Balogun had been clearing his table, preparatory to his final handing-over, few weeks ago.
Checks revealed that part of hand-over at the appropriate time is the culmination of a successful selection and emergence of the new Vice-Chancellor, as well as the latter’s understudying of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor.
A peaceful transition is therefore expected on Wednesday, when Professor Balogun will hand-over to Professor Oyewole.
Established in 1988, four substantive Vice-Chancellors have so far administered the affairs of the University. They are: Professor ‘Nimbe Adedipe, Professor Julius Amioba Okojie, Professor Israel Adu and the outgoing Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun.
