The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole, has promised to sustain the good work of his predecessor saying “we shall not destroy them”.
He made this assertion at the Valedictory Lecture and Official Handing-Over Ceremony, held last Wednesday at the Julius Amioba Okojie Lecture Theatre Complex.
According to the new Vice-Chancellor, “Professor Balogun is a builder of leaders, of which I am one of them”.
He described Professor Balogun as a strategic thinker and a leader to emulate, adding that his unique qualities like discipline, diligence, honesty, sincerity, dedication, excellence, transparency and integrity are worthy of emulation.
Professor Oyewole commended the transparent process employed in the selection and appointment of the Vice-Chancellor, saying that the landmark feat would be sustained.
He, however, sounded a note of warning to people expecting the programmes and initiatives of the former Vice-Chancellor to be abandoned, promising that “we shall not destroy them, but continue to build on them”.
The fifth substantive Vice-Chancellor assured the University community of better days ahead, pledging that “we shall maintain due diligence and honesty and with God on our side, we shall not fail”.
