The Deputy Director, Council Affairs of the University, Mrs. Mariam Popoola, in a brief chat with FUNAAB Bulletin in her office, expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for honouring Chief Osayemi, describing him as a seasoned Administrator, Lawyer and Accountant of repute.
“It is a good thing that the Federal Government recognizes him and it is indeed a great honour to the University and Ogun State”, she said.
She attributed the honour to the leadership style of Chief Osayemi.
According to Mrs. Popoola “our Pro-Chancellor’s excellent style of administration which is second to none in the nation’s ivory towers led to FUNAAB’s emergence as the second best University in Nigeria and 35th in Africa, earlier in the year”.
The Deputy Director stressed that Chief Olakunle Osayemi led-Governing Council operates an open door policy and the Council has ensured justice and fairness in its dealings with every stakeholder in the University Community.
“He treats all mails with fairness and he even carry out oversight functions whenever the need arises”, she added.
Mrs. Popoola further described Chief Osayemi as a personality who knows his onions when it comes to Council matters and he has been able to merge the town and gown together in order to ensure that peace reigns both within and outside the University Community.
Speaking on the conferment, the Deputy Director, Internal Audit, Mrs. Yewande Baiyewu disclosed that it is a well deserved honour for Chief Olakunle Osayemi who has contributed immensely to the growth of the country in his own callings.
Mrs. Baiyewu described Chief Osayemi as a hardworking man who leaves no stone unturned in any given assignment.
She commended the Present Governing Council of the University for having unity of purpose and for being very peaceful in their dealings, which has helped the University to move forward in all ramifications.
“Since they (Council members) have been appointed, no case of financial scandal has been recorded and they have not been awarding contracts to themselves”, she noted.
Mrs. Baiyewu appreciated the Governing Council for being a goal-getter.
In the same vein, the President of the Students Union of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Comrade Abdulkareem Bamigbade has said that the conferment of the award on Chief Osayemi “is a sincere reward and motivation for his dedication to the geometric development of FUNAAB in particular and Nigeria in general”.
