The African Liberty Students Organization (ALSO), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has held a seminar series titled: “From Poverty and Serfdom to Freedom and Prosperity”.
In his Keynote Address, Mr. Bola Taiwo Babalola, Head of Department, General Studies, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta disclosed that for an individual to move from poverty to prosperity, such person needs to make use of opportunities around him or her.
He highlighted some key principles of moving to prosperity from poverty which are: Need to live a life someone wants; Be a super saver instead of super spender; Increase market value of your time; Do less better instead of doing it all; Capitalize on the expected instead of being derailed; Own the Market; Limit your losses; and Do it now instead of later.
Mr. Babalola commended the organization for the successful outing and urged them to keep the flag flying.
Also speaking at the event, Pastor Femi Bankole of the Love of God Ministries, Abeokuta said Life is all about movement, adding that everybody needs an access to move from one level to another.
He expressed dismay that out of six billion world population about 1.4 billion still live in poverty, charging everyone to employ the vehicle of work in order to move from poverty to prosperity.
Pastor Bankole advised youths to value work as this is the only panacea to prosperity.
His words, “Whatever you know how to do, do it better and never do a mediocre job. Whatever you do, do it smarter and whatever you do, do it faster”.
The Guest Speaker described FUNAAB as a great citadel of learning which stands tall among its peers.
Earlier in his Welcome Address, the outgoing President of the organization, Mr. Adeniyi Moronfolu appreciated everyone that graced the occasion.
He said that the organization was founded in FUNAAB two years ago as the foremost chapter in Africa and had since grown to over 24 chapters in Africa.
Mr. Moronfolu disclosed that the aim of the organization is to discuss the ideas of Entrepreneurship, Liberty and self-development amongst students of Higher Institutions in Africa.
He lauded the University Management for allowing the existence of student organizations within the campus.
Mr. Morounfolu called on FUNAABITES to join the organization as it will aid their quest for knowledge.
The Seminar Series had in attendance Dr. (Mrs.) Funmi Oluwalana of the Department of Entrepreneurial Studies, FUNAAB and other members from other institutions within Ogun State.
Highpoint of the occasion was the inauguration of the new executive council, which was performed by Mr. Bayo Ogundimu, Staff Adviser of the organization and who is also the College Officer, College of Natural Sciences, FUNAAB.
