– Management Warns Beneficiaries
The University management has enjoined beneficiaries of TETFUND Conference Attendance (CA) intervention to reciprocate the gesture by shunning any act that is capable of tarnishing the image of the University, TETFUND and the nation’s at large.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole made the appeal just as he described as blatant lie, baseless and unfounded, insinuations that the management had deposited TETFUND Conference Attendance Intervention fund in a fixed account.
Professor Oyewole spoke at the formal disbursement of TETFUND CA Intervention Fund to beneficiaries whose conferences fall within the stipulated time at the International Scholars’ and Resource Centre.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor advised beneficiaries to obey the rules and regulations guiding the conference, warning that their conduct will either prompt TETFUND to extend its gesture to other members of staff of the University in subsequent exercise or otherwise.
He told the attendees that what the University and TETFUND expected of them goes beyond mere presentation of receipts of how they spent the fund given to them.
The Vice-Chancellor specifically requested the beneficiaries to give a detail report on how the Conference had impacted their lives, in addition to expressing appreciation to TETFUND through the University for sponsoring them to the Conference.
Professor Oyewole used the occasion to clear the air on the rumour that the Management had fixed TETFUND CA Intervention Fund, describing it as blatant lie and a figment of mischievous imagination of mischief makers.
The Vice-Chancellor explained that about two weeks ago he received information officially that TETFUND had sent the CA Intervention fund by courier, adding that after some time he became worried while waiting almost endlessly for the arrival of the money.
Professor Oyewole said in the process, he directed the University Bursar, Mr. Moses Ilesanmi to ensure that the fund is disbursed to the salary accounts of the beneficiaries, not later than 24 hours after delivery of fund, in order to prevent further delay.
The Vice-Chancellor stressed that contrary to rumour of management fixing the fund, information about the fund came on Monday and based on the earlier directive, it was immediately disbursed into the salary accounts of 36 beneficiaries whose conferences fall within the stipulated time.
He, however, promised to investigate further the information that the fund was received earlier by the Bank without alerting the University.
He advised the remaining 38 beneficiaries of the fund, whose conferences had lapsed before the arrival of the fund to search for a replacement they can attend between now and March.
After due consultation with the beneficiaries, Principal Officers and Directors of essential services on ground, the Vice-Chancellor announced that the University will keep the remaining fund for the beneficiaries, adding that it will be released into their salary accounts not later than 48 hours after securing conferences they are to attend.
He assured them that the University won’t fixed their money or tamper with it .
The Vice-Chancellor reiterated his commitments to transparency, fairness, justice and equity in all his dealings with staff and students.
His words, “I have resolved to be fair to all in this University as your Vice-Chancellor. I don’t need to know you before you are giving approval for this TETFUND training. We threw it open saying let everybody applied and 74 out of 78 people were cleared”.
