The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Oyewole, has commended Egba indigenes for their efforts in the development of FUNAAB.
Prof. Oyewole made this commendation while receiving a 7-man Joint Action Committee (JAC), under the aegis of Egba Indigenes Global Association, as he lauded notable Egba indigenes who have contributed immensely to the development of FUNAAB.
The Vice-Chancellor called for the support of the Association, challenging them to make their impact felt in the development of the University, through the erection of physical structure (s) as this would put their imprint on the University.
As part of his effort at making FUNAAB a world-class University, Prof. Oyewole solicited the support of the group to use their personalities to influence the granting of the take-off license for FUNAAB Community Radio, which will transmit basically agriculture-related programmes. In addition, he sought for assistant in the realisation of FUNAAB’s dream of becoming a conventional University.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, the Baba Adinni of Egbaland, Captain Rasheed Raji (Rtd), appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for his achievements, disclosing that the Egba Indigenes Global Association is the umbrella body to all Egba Clubs, rendering service to Egba people at home and abroad. According to him, the Association’s achievements include the building and handing over of the Olukoye Ransome Kuti Memorial Hospital to the State Government in 1990, Award of annual bursary to Egba students to improve and support their education, and the proposed building of the City Hall, a project meant to impact the lives of the Egbas.
Captain Raji, pledged the Association’s support for the University, through infrastructural development and endowments.
Dignitaries present at the occassion include: the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Toyin Arowolo; the Registrar, Mr. Mathew Ayoola; the Bursar, Mr. Moses Ilesanmi and the University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Mulikat Salaam. Others from the Association are Alhaji Kamarudeen A. Adedo (Social Secretary & Asst. Gen. Sec; JAC Busary Committee), Mr. Lekan Adeleye (Financial Secretary), Mr. Sabur O. Sodeinde (P.R.O.), Chief Waheed O. Oloyede (Ex– Officio), Alhaji Ayoola Waheed (Ex-Officio), Hon. Fasiu A. Bakenne (Treasurer) and Capt Rasheed A. Raji (NN) Rtd (President).
