Members of the University Muslim Community recently held a special valedictory Juma’at service in honour of the University’s Pioneer Amir, Dr. Taofiq Salisu, for his meritorious service to the University.
In his sermon at the occasion, the University Imam, Dr. Idris Ayinde, extolled the outstanding qualities and exemplary leadership traits of the outgone Amir, which he said had made the Muslim community to grow from “a handful of members” to a large family.
Responding, Dr. Salisu prayed for continued increase in the population of worshipers, as he charged the incoming executives and the congregation to emulate Prophet Muhammed.
Meanwhile, a new Amir, Professor Kehinde Okeleye, alongside other executive members have been inaugurated. They are: Dr Abdul-Akeem Agboola, Noibul-Amir;. Abdul-Rasak Adebowale, General Secretary; Alhaji Ismaila Ewedairo, Financial Secretary; and Dr. Idris Ayinde, Chief Imam.
Professor Okeleye, on behalf of the new officers promised to serve the Muslim community diligently.
