Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Paramount Ruler and Alake of Egbaland, HRM, Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo have expressed implicit confidence in the ability of the new Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Kolawole Salako to take the institution to unprecedented heights.
Chief Obasanjo and Oba Gbadebo stated this in their goodwill messages marking the official Assumption of Duty Ceremony of the Sixth Substantive Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Felix Kolawole Salako.
The occasion held at the Ceremonial Building of the University had in attendance, former and substantive Principal Officers of the institution, royal fathers, erudite scholars and hundreds of other prominent Nigerians from all works of life.
Speaking at the occasion, Obasanjo in his goodwill message, congratulated Professor Salako for being the University’s Vice-Chancellor at this crucial period.
He expressed confidence that with his track records, he will definitely better the lots of the University.
Also in the Congratulatory Message he personally signed, the Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, said Professor Salako’s track record speaks volume of his ability to make the University a model.
According to Alake of Egbaland, “I heartily felicitate with you because I am sure that FUNAAB environment is not a novelty to you. And being an active member of that Academic Community, you are in a better position to proffer solution to any attendant problem”
Oba Gbadebo stated further “ Your consummate academic and cognate administrative experience give me absolute confidence that you would be on top of the situation. No doubt, you have been tested and made of a stenner stuff for your new position”.
Also speaking at the official Assumption of Duty Ceremony, the University Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Dr. (Barr.) Aboki Zhawa, said the process for the selection of Professor Salako as Vice-Chancellor was transparent, fair and just.
He disclosed that Professor Salako emerged the best candidate because God chose him.
Dr. Zhawa assured the new Vice-Chancellor of the Governing Council’s unflinching support and cooperation to succeed in office.
In his speech, the new Vice-Chancellor assured that he won’t let down the guard of the University for it to be debased.
He charged members of the University Community to rise and remain standing for excellence, truth, professionalism, hardwork, productivity, punctuality, regularity, welfare and reward for noble achievement.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor upon resumption at exactly 8 a.m. to the office attended to mails and held a brief meeting with staff in his office. He commended them for their support to the immediate past administration and charged them to continue to give their best to the system in whatever capacity they were called to serve.
