The Governing Council of the University has commended three (3) out-gone members of Council for serving the institution meritoriously during their tenure of office.
They are representative of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Council Dr. Olumuyiwa Akinsola, and the Representatives of Senate on Council, the duo of Professor Christian Ikeobi and Professor Wilfred Alegbeleye.
Expressing the gratitude of Council to the trio for a job well done, the Chairman and Pro-Chancellor, Dr. (Barr.) Aboki Zhawa said he personally enjoyed the service of Professor Ikeobi, Professor Alegbeleye and Dr. Akinsola as members of the Council, praying God to continue to direct their affairs and grant their heart desires.
Also speaking, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako described Dr. Akinsola as a peaceful man who is satisfied with life and loves peace in all he does, even as he thanked Professor Ikeobi and Alegbeleye for their doggedness and for standing firm in the face of trials while they were in Council.
He prayed for God’s prosperity and wisdom in their future endeavours.
Earlier, fellow Council Members, Dr. Femi Olufunmilade, Dr. Yakubu Tor-Agbidye and Mrs. Nkem Nnenna Ezeomah described the ex-Council Members as jolly fellows, whom they enjoyed interacting with over the time and as friends they have come to know in Abeokuta.
Also, Professor Adesina Agboola said that Dr. Akinsola is a friend who represented the Ministry of Agriculture very well on FUNAAB Council, and described Professor Ikeobi and Alegbeleye as dogged Council Members who stood their ground when the University was on trial.
Responding on behalf of the Awardees, Professor Christian Ikeobi appreciated the Chairman of Council and members for their kind gesture and honour.
Professor Ikeobi said “When we came on Council, we came in to serve the system,” and, “We are still serving the system”.
He described his other colleagues as people who are result oriented and are always willing to serve the system when called upon.
The hallmark of the appreciation was the presentation of a plaque as a mark of honour to the 3 former members of Council.
