The Registrar, Dr. Bola Adekola has commended the new graduates of the Advanced Diploma Training Program in Data Processing and Proficiency in the Use of Internet for Secretaries in and outside the University for their dedication and commitment towards equipping themselves for enhanced productivity.

Congratulating participants at the Closing Ceremony of the Diploma Programme organized by the International Centre for Professional Development (ICPD), Dr. Adekola stated that with determination and hardwork, no challenge is insurmountable.

The Registrar who described the training as a right step in the right direction stressed that the importance of training and retraining cannot be overemphasized as new technologies evolve daily and to remain relevant, professionals must always sharpen their skills.

He charged other Secretaries who were yet to further develop themselves to do so by taking advantage of the trainings organised by ICPD so as not to be left behind.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Development, Professor Lateef Sanni lauded participants for their brilliant performance at the training, revealing that Management was already receiving positive reports on them from their superior officers.

He further applauded them for not allowing age to be a barrier to acquiring knowledge, stressing that there is no end to knowledge as it is a continuous process.

The Vice Chancellor who disclosed that every staff has a unique role to play in the smooth operation of the University system, commended Secretaries for developing themselves to contribute their quota to the success of the University.

Corroborating the Vice Chancellor, the Chairperson, University Secretarial Staff Association (USSA), Mrs Camilla Fatumbi reiterated the importance of training and retraining, assuring the University Management that her members would continue to strive to give their best in their professional calling.

She appealed to participants to apply the knowledge harnessed from the training in their various offices and encouraged other USSA members to register for the ICPD training to be able to be at par with their contemporaries around the world.

Earlier in his Welcome Address, the Centre Manager, ICPD, Mr. Lawrence Kazeem appreciated the University Management for its support, confirming that the new graduates have all it takes to be more efficient and effective in the discharge of their duties.
