The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) has expressed satisfaction at the facilities on ground in the University, with disclosing that the institution has all it takes to become IELTS approved centre in Abeokuta.
The leader of IELTS team, Mr. Tijani Kazeem rated FUNAAB high after his group working visit and on the spot assessment of facilities put in place by the University for the purpose of serving as an IELTS centre.
The visitors had after an interactive session with the management inspected facilities committed exclusively by the International Centre for Professional Development (ICPD) as IELTS Centre.
Facilities inspected include Hands-On Laboratory, Person Vue, Test Preparation Centre, Red Hat Laboratory, ICPD Conference Hall, Directorate of Research, Innovation and Partnership (DRIP) Conference Hall, (Wing A and B), 250 Capacity Computer Laboratory, FUNAAB Bureau of Transport (FUNAABOT), FUNAAB International Guest House and FUNAAB Radio, among others.

Appraising the facility tour which lasted about three hours, the leader of the team who was apparently elated by his findings disclosed that himself and his team were overwhelmingly impressed by the high standard of facilities on ground, proposed and presented by the University for the hosting of IELTS.
Mr. Kazeem informed that FUNAAB’s ICPD was indeed prepared to serve as IELTS Centre given the congenial atmosphere that is conducive for learning, the vibrant and virile logistic support, standard infrastructure and proximity to supply value chain, among others.
He disclosed this while reporting his team’s findings to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Professor Lateef Sanni alongside other principal officers of the University and high ranking officers which include his Academic counterpart, Professor Morenike Dipeolu, the Registrar, Dr. Bola Adekola, Deputy Registrar II, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mrs. Toyin Dawodu, ICPD Ag. Director, Mr. Lawrence Kazeem, Director DRIP, Dr. AbdulRazak Adebowale, Director FUNAABOT, Mr Waheed Abdul and Director DUFARM, Mr. Joseph Olobashola, among others.
Though Mr. Kazeem enjoined the University to, as a matter of urgency fix deficient areas noticed and pointed out by his team, however his level of satisfaction was more revealing and suggestive while speaking on FUNAAB Radio 98.5 FM live programme.
Fielding questions from his host in the studio on his assessment of the facilities on ground, he simply retorted: “IELTS is coming to Abeokuta, IELTS is coming to FUNAAB. We are coming back, Abeokuta are you ready?”.
Earlier, receiving the visitor, representative of the Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Professor Lateef Sanni chronicled the establishment and the rising profile of FUNAAB to the point of serving as Centre of international and national reputed agencies and organizations, expressing optimism that IELTS won’t be an exception.
Professor Sanni whose office incidentally supervises ICPD, the would-be host of IELTS pointed out that FUNAAB is strategically positioned to serve as a centre, with its over 15,000 students, sandwiched by the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Federal and State Civil Servants, among other prospective patronage.
More importantly, the representative of the Vice-Chancellor expressed the readiness of the University to partner robustly with IELTS in other areas, especially capacity building.
He said, the University is ready to do it through serious hardwork, mentoring and coaching, among others.
Professor Sanni further stated that in as much as he wouldn’t love to pre-empt the assessment of the visitors, he is optimistic that FUNAAB will perform creditably because of her sustained tradition and culture of excellence.
Also speaking, the Registrar, Dr. Bola Adekola thanked the visitors for visiting the University and said that the institution is eager to be IELTS’s partner in progress.
Welcoming the visitors, Ag. Director ICPD, Mr. Kazeem thanked them for deeming it fit to visit the University, stating that FUNAAB is leaving no stone unturned to serve as an IELTS Centre.
