The Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE) has organized an orientation programme for its newly admitted students to usher them into the 2017/2018 academic session.

Speaking during the programme, the Director of the Centre, Professor Olukayode Akinyemi noted that students of FUNAAB Centre were adjudged the best among the 10 Centres across Nigeria.

Based on this, he charged the newly admitted students to sustain the tempo and continue to impress the assessors anytime they come around.

He stated that the essence of the World Bank Centres in Nigeria and African Universities was informed by the fact that World Bank felt that the idea of regionalization must be restored. That is, people from different background should come together and solve a problem.

He also added that the World Bank aimed at restoring the idea of individual engagement, encourage soft skills and promote demand driven research.

Professor Akinyemi encouraged the students not to let them down, saying, “To whom much is given, much is expected. He however revealed that the oriented students are the fourth set the Centre will be admitting.

Different arms of the University were on ground to educate the students on the workings of the University. The resource persons are the Director, University Health Services, Dr. Abiodun Amusan, who educated the students on the procedures for students’ registration in the University Health Centre.

Also, the Dean, Student Affairs, Professor Babatunde Idowu took them on the rules and regulations guiding students’ stay on campus, accommodation matters on campus and charged them to avoid misconducts.

The Director, Internal Audit, Mr. Olufisayo Amubode took the students on the processes of fee payment, cash advances collection and retiring of cash in the University. While Mr. Odiato Ogini from the Guidance and Counseling Unit took the students on positive behavioural matters and detailed the functions of the Unit, charging them to come for counselling whenever they are at cross roads.

Programme Leaders of various programmes in the Centre also graced the podium to discuss in detail, their courses and their content and what they should look out for during their lecture classes.
