UNAAB VC, PROF. OLUWAFEMI OLAIYA BALOGUN, HIS WIFE, PROF. (MRS) ELIZABETH BALOGUN PRAISING GOD AT THE CHAPEL OF GRACE, (UNAAB) DURING THE 4TH ANNIVERSARY THANKSGIVING SERVICE.

Scores of well wishers from all walks of life last Saturday felicitated with Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun and his family at the 4th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service, marking his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB).

The Service held at the Chapel of Grace, UNAAB, was electrifying as Professor Balogun,
his family members, friends as well as officials and students of the University chorused melodious songs of Praise to God for his faithfulness on the Vice-Chancellor.

Preaching on the topic, “A Man of Praise; A Man After God’s Own Heart”, Pastor Oluyinka Fadiran of the Spring of Life Bible Church, Akure, Ondo State, said Professor Balogun’s four years in office had recorded unprecedented success because the celebrant had been consistently tenacious  in his covenant of Thanksgiving with God.

The cleric who anchored his sermon on passages of the Book of Psalms, Chapter 22 verses 22 to 30, likened Professor Balogun to the biblical King David whom God described as a man after His own heart because of his penchant for ceaselessly giving quality thanks and praises.

The Clergy described the Vice-Chancellor’s love for thanking God as an act of humility, which demonstrates selfless service and love, as well as deep thought and reasoning.

Pastor Fadiran, noted that having kept his covenant of thanksgiving with God in the last four years of his tenure, Professor Balogun should be confident that “the Almighty will grant him extraordinary acceleration of progress in the last lap of his tenure”.

In his remarks at the Service, the Vice-Chancellor declared that, “God in His infinite mercy has confirmed beyond every human doubt that my appointment four years ago was made by him and without him, all the accolades wouldn’t have been possible”.

He, therefore, thanked members of the University Community for giving him “the chance” to serve and the Federal Government for its encouragement and unflinching support.

Professor Balogun also expressed appreciation to the University’s pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. ‘Nimbe
Adedipe who graced the occasion, describing him as his “role model as teacher and University administrator”.

He also thanked his benefactors during his growing up days, including his English teacher, Mrs. Dupe Olumorin who also graced the occasion.
Prof. Balogun had earlier read the only Bible passage from the Book of Psalms, Chapter 8 vs. 1-9.

Also in attendance were present and past members of the University’s Governing Council led by the incumbent Pro-Chancellor, Chief Lawrence Ayinde Osayemi, his predecessor, Brigadier-General Bassey Asuquo (Rtd.), Principal Officers and a rich mix of dignitaries from ‘gown and town’.

The dignitaries were later treated to a sumptuous luncheon after the Thanksgiving Service, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge and Royal Greens Guest House at the GRA, Ibara, Abeokuta.
