The Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Centre (AMREC) of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, has organized a Farm-Family Health Project for farmers and student representatives of resident schools in the Imala Community of Abeokuta South Local Government of Ogun State.

The capacity-building training, sponsored by NESTLE Nig. Plc, focused on effective parenting, sexuality education and enlightenment on soybean cultivation as well as its processing and utilization.

The event, coordinated by the Director of AMREC, Professor Carolyn Afolami, was attended by about 300 participants, comprising of farm families and representatives of students of secondary and primary schools in the community.

Delivering his Goodwill Address on behalf of the community, the Omala of Imala, Oba Apostle Olabode, observed that the capacity-building training would assist in reducing the high-level prevalence of maternal and child mortality in the area.

The Royal Father stressed that the project will also boost the knowledge level of the community, particularly in the area of agricultural productivity and therefore pleaded for intensification of efforts on capacity building projects in the community.

In his remarks, the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager of NESTLE West Africa and Nigeria Plc, Dr. Sam Adenekan, commended the project facilitator, AMREC-UNAAB, for its impressive performance and also assured the community of more sponsored projects in future.
