The University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB), will host the 39th Weed Science Society of Nigeria (WSSN) Conference, holding between October 30 and November 2, 2011.

The theme of the Conference is Re-strategising Weed Management for the Attainment of Food Security and Environmental Sustainability.

In a release, signed by the Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Dr M.O Atayese, the Conference will bring together Weed Scientists and Specialists to enable them exchange and disseminate knowledge in weed management and farming system, towards the attainment of food security and environmental sustainability.

The LOC Chairman informed that the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Professor Segun Lagoke and two former lecturers of the University, Dr. B. A. Olunuga and Dr. N. J. Usoroh, had been conferred as Fellows of the Society.

The release further informed that the 24th edition of the Nigerian Journal of Weed Science, will be launched during the Conference.

Other activities lined up for the Conference include, trade exhibitions of agro-allied and agrochemical products, touring of the popular Adire Market and the ancient Olumo Rock, in Abeokuta.
