For about two hours, the Director of the University Health Services, Dr. Olusola Talabi, last Monday, reeled out a catalogue of achievements of the Centre in the outgoing year.
According to Dr. Talabi, who is also a Consultant Physician/Neurologist, the institution has recently procured a Suction Machine, to aid the removal of “secretion and clear the airway of auto-mobile accident victims”.
Also purchased, according to the Director, included oxygen cylinder with regulator, oxygen concentrator and linen for the couches of the Centre.
Besides, Dr. Talabi revealed that the Emergency Care Unit had also been stocked with more drugs, under the supervision of a dedicated Matron.
He also disclosed that the number of Consulting Rooms have increased from three to seven, reckoning that the issue of time wasting had been reduced considerably.
Dr. Talabi further informed that a brand new 100 KVA Generator had just been purchased for the Centre, in addition to the availability of a 24-hour Ambulance services on campus.
Speaking on the immediate goal of the Health Centre, Dr. Talabi who had just been conferred with the membership of the Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria, Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Chapter, said FUNAAB is considering having “outreach facilities since we are NHIS- compliant”.
He stressed that the facilities which will be located in the heart of Abeokuta, will boost the image of the University and also serve as revenue generator.
The Health Centre, the Director also said, is looking forward to buying its own X-Ray machine, to further improve on health service delivery to the community.
