“Now that the World Universities’ Web Ranking is over, we will emerge first next time, because we have discovered our lapses”, says the University’s Director of Information, Communications and Technology Resource Centre (ICTREC), Dr. Abayomi Oguntoye.
Speaking in a chat with FUNAAB Bulletin, Dr. Oguntoye disclosed that ICTREC immediately went back to the drawing board after the University was ranked second.
He stated that in the process of self-appraisal, the Centre discovered a significant factor, which could have deprived the University of the first position adding that he won’t disclose it for ‘security’ reasons.
However, Dr. Oguntoye identified the challenges which might hinder FUNAAB from topping web ranking, if not properly addressed.
According to him, “the challenge is to score three digits in the web ranking. Painfully and shamefully, not a single Nigerian University has three digits”.
Dr. Oguntoye, who thanked God for the feat commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun-led Management for its vision and purposeful leadership, especially in the area of ICT.
He also gave kudos to the trio of members of staff of the Centre, Messrs Abayomi Babatola, Oluseyi Babarinde and Temitope Soretire, for their superlative performances in the field of ICT.
According to him, while Oluseyi Babarinde created the Community Page, the duo of Babatola and Soretire created the Content Management Website, which contributed significantly to the University’s latest ranking.
