The 16th Triennial International Symposium of the International Society for Tropical Root Crops (ISTRC) will be held from Sunday, 23rd to Friday, 28th September, 2012, at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

According to a statement, issued by the Chairman, Organizing Committee and Vice-President I, ISTRC, Prof. Lateef Sanni, the theme of the Symposium is, The Roots (and Tubers) of Development and Climate Change.

The Symposium will provide opportunity for experts from around the world to meet and address relevant agenda, which will include articulating favourable policies that would enhance the contributions of Roots and Tree Crops to development in the areas of poverty reduction and food security; enterprise development, income generation and export development; impact of climate change and variability; impact of the global food crisis; global economic downturn and urbanization; opportunity provided by bio-fuels and intellectual property rights.

The release further stated that the Symposium activities will be conducted mainly in English language while publications and oral presentations could be done either in English or French, simultaneously, using translators.

Deadline for response to Call for Abstracts is Sunday, April 15, 2012.
