The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, has restated the essence of training and retraining of the workforce.

Prof. Balogun stated this in a Keynote Address he delivered during the Induction Training programme, tagged: Equipping Result-Oriented Administrative Staff of FUNAAB, for newly-appointed staff of the University.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Prof. Felix Salako, the Vice-Chancellor said training and retraining were very essential for staff of any establishment, because they lead to organizational improvement, development and better productivity.

Prof. Balogun who disclosed that the incumbent administration in the University had employed over 260 Academic, 450 Senior, Non-Teaching and 400 Junior, Non-Teaching staff members, charged the trainees to be receptive, to learn new ways of doing things bearing in mind that FUNAAB had invested a lot of resources on staff training, to enable them meet up with job expectations and demands.

Earlier, the University’s Acting Registrar, Mrs. Christiana Kuforiji, had charged the new members of staff to live up to expectations by developing themselves, through the acquisition of additional, relevant skills.

The Acting Registrar urged the trainees to be disciplined, regular at work, committed, with passion for “Project FUNAAB” and avoid gossiping and leaking of official information.
