The Vice-Chancellor-designate, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole, on Monday, formally commenced his understudy of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun.
Professor Oyewole was in the entourage that accompanied the Vice-Chancellor on valedictory visit to COBFAS sites at Isaga-Orile and Iwoye-Ketu.
Clad in a light blue colour suit, Prof Bandele was noticed paying rapt attention to unfolding scenarios with keen interest at Isaga Orile and Iwoye-Ketu.
He was seen occasionally exchanging views with the Vice-Chancellor and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Professor Kolawole Salako.
The Vice-Chancellor-designate exchanged warm pleasantries of deep appreciation as Royal Fathers, High Chiefs and COBFAS students congratulated him following his introduction by the Vice-Chancellor. At a point, the Vice-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor-designate had an open humorous exchange of banters that sent COBFAS students and those on their entourage reeling with laughter.
Prof. Balogun, while addressing COBFAS students at their farm site at Isaga Orile, stated that being a man of God (Clergy), Prof. Oyewole will have more challenges in office than he had.
Prof. Oyewole responded stating, “you have made it easy for me”, thus sending the gathering into laughter.
Presenting Prof. Oyewole to the people of Isaga-Orile, Iwoye Ketu and COBFAS students, Prof. Balogun exuded confidence that the Vice-Chancellor-designate will take FUNAAB to greater heights.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, “one of the considerations of those who appointed Professor Oyewole as my successor was that he will be able to sustain all the programmes and legacies that our Founding Fathers and successive Vice-Chancellors, particularly this Vice-Chancellor put in place”.
The template for him is the performance of this administration. Professor Oyewole is a man of God and that added another challenge that the Lord’s name must not be brought to disrepute”, he added.
Speaking further, Prof. Balogun said, “Going by Professor Oyewole’s exposure, nobody needs to tell him where we are going. We are no longer local champion, we want to move to global recognition”.
Meanwhile, the Onisaga of Isaga, HRM, Oba Oladele Tella and the Ooye of Iwoye-Ketu, HRM Oba Ademola Alaye expressed confidence that the Vice-Chancellor-designate, will perform better in office.
The monarchs gave the assurance while responding to the formal presentation of Prof. Oyewole by the outgoing Vice-Chancellor.
They prayed God to grant him the grace to take the University to greater heights.
