The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has commiserated with the Management, Staff and Students of the University of Lagos on the demise of their Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adetokunbo Babatunde Shofoluwe, who died on May 12, 2012.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Toyin Arowolo, Professor Balogun described the late Professor Shofoluwe as an amiable person who related well with his superiors, colleagues and subordinates.

According to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, UNILAG, Deacon Gamaliel Onosode, late Professor Shofoluwe was a cerebral, team player and good natured person.

Deacon Onosode stated that the University community will miss him, for his impressive performance, even in his short tenure.

“Tokunbo left us at the beginning of the 50th Anniversary celebration, but UNILAG intends to carry on courageously”, he noted.

Also, the Visitor to the University, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan recalled that three months ago, during the Convocation ceremony, the University community was filled with happiness and joy.

The Visitor was represented by the Honourable Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i, who said she received the sad news with deep shock while in China.

“Professor Shofoluwe was a distinguished, hardworking and dedicated scholar that was an asset in Computer Science”, she noted.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services, Professor Raman Adisa Bello has been ratified by the UNILAG’s Governing Council as the Acting Vice-Chancellor.
