The University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole, has assured frontline monarchs of Egbaland, who are traditional rulers of the institution’s Host Communities, that he will uphold the legacies of the heroes and heroines of Egbaland and the University’s tradition of excellence, as the bedrock of his administration.

Professor Oyewole gave the assurance during his formal presentation as FUNAAB Vice-Chancellor to the Alake of Egbaland, HRM (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Osile of Oke-Ona, HRM Adedapo Tejuoso, Agura of Gbagura, HRM Halidu Laloko, the Olubara of Ibara, HRM Jacob Omolade by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Chief Lawrence Ayinde Olakunle Osayemi at their palaces.

Speaking at the presentation, Professor Oyewole said as a true son of the soil, who hails from Ago-Odo, he’s very proud of Egbaland and will forever cherish his affinity with the land.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the monarchs that he would not let his kinsmen down, saying, “we shall keep raising the name of Abeokuta all over the world by upholding the legacies of Egba heroes and the University founding fathers”.

He stressed that this will be done divinely, declaring that “The fear of God is what we are bringing to FUNAAB”.

Professor Oyewole who commended his predecessor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun for a job well done said “I am also committed to the great work he left behind.  We shall uphold it and improve on it”.

The Vice-Chancellor equally thanked the monarchs for stimulating cordial relationship between gown and town, assuring them that he will not distance himself from their fatherly advice.

He expressed gratitude to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Chief Lawrence Ayinde Olakunle Osayemi for his support in ensuring that the University improved on its local and international rating.
