The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Chief Lawrence Ayinde Olakunle Osayemi would on Monday, September 17, 2012 be bestowed with the National Honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).
A statement by the Permanent Secretary (Special Duties), Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. Henry Akpan, published in national dailies of Monday, September 10, 2012 informed that the event would be held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The publications indicated that Chief Osayemi would be honoured alongside 148 other Nigerians, by His Excellency, the President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
Chief Osayemi, a distinguished accountant, lawyer and businessman, bagged the honour, in recognition of his selfless services to the nation in several respects, particularly, as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
He is equally a prominent member of the Manufacturers’ Association of Nigeria.
