The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole has declared that all Librarians should be Information and Communication Technology (ICT) compliant.

Professor Oyewole made the declaration at a Dinner organised in honour of the participants at the National Workshop by the Nigerian Library Association (NLA)’s ICT section with the theme, Creating Innovative Libraries in Nigeria, held at the International Scholars and Resource Centre (IS&RC).

The Vice-Chancellor stated that the strength of the University depends on the quality of its Library adding that the Nimbe Adedipe Library, established over 24 years ago can no longer accommodate the rising student population of the University.

Professor Oyewole congratulated the participants for going through the exposure of the Workshop within the last few days, stressing that they must have learnt a lot from it.

In her Welcome Address, the Acting University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Mulikat Salaam appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for taking out time to attend the Dinner, inspite of his tight schedule.

She however declared that the participants should unwind, wine and dine as that was the main purpose of organising the Dinner.

In one of the comments, a participant, Mrs. Raliat Onadiran from President Kennedy Library, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, said that it was a great opportunity for her and the participants to be part of this Workshop as they have acquired more knowledge.

She commended the University Management for the well kept lawn on campus, noting that the University environment is pleasing.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of certificates to participants.
