The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Chief Lawrence Olakunle Osayemi has said that every Nigerian has contributed to the decay in the nation’s education system.

Chief Osayemi made this known while giving his remark at the 5th Lecture Series of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), FUNAAB Chapter, titled, ”Leadership and the Challenges of Higher Education in Nigeria”, delivered by Senator Babafemi Ojudu, a foremost Journalist and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He added that every Nigerian, irrespective of status has contributed to the set-back in the system, stressing that the elites want their wards to get University education outside the country and work there, rather than allowing them to study in Nigeria, in order to contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of the country.

He lauded SSANU for organizing the lecture, noting that the choice of the Guest Lecturer is not a mistake.

The Pro-Chancellor expressed appreciation to both Academic and Non-Teaching Staff of the University for living up to expectation, stating that all of them are important.
