The Top-Notch Writers Organization of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has held a Certified Training Programme (CTP), titled “Unlocking, Branding and Rebranding your potentials”.

In his Keynote Address, Adegboyega Ogunwale, a Psychiatrist from the Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta who spoke on the topic “Communication: Public Speaking Unveiled”, disclosed that without communication nothing can be done.

He highlighted six key principles of effective communication which are: Defining your message; Attract attention and keep it; Select your tools: Use persuasive messages; Keep an eye on your delivery; Focus carefully on your audience; and plan your content in line with time limit.

Dr. Ogunwale commended the organizers of the programme and urged them to keep the flag flying.

Speaking also at the event was Mr. Bolaji Femi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Phembuk Communications, who charged the participants to think of being an entrepreneur rather than searching for white-collar jobs.

He noted that being an entrepreneur requires time and patience, adding that they should be prepared to take risk.

According to him, “Look for a mentor that has succeeded in business and not those in business”, adding that there are opportunities everywhere and it takes a visionary eye to find one.

In a separate submission, the Coordinator, FUNAAB Radio FM, Mr. Ayo Arowojolu noted that anyone who desires to be great in life must possess a golden asset, called Public Speaking Skills.

The Coordinator called on the participants to develop their oratory skill as this asset will fetch an additional income.

He urged the participants to be innovative as well as develop a reputation for themselves.

Earlier in her Welcome Speech, the Chief-Pen of the organization, Miss. Orija, Oluwaponmile said that, the aim of the training programme is to develop, improve skills in leadership, communication, writing, entrepreneurship, reporting and interviewing.

She added that the organization is divided into four clubs which are: Literary and Debating Club, Press Club, Book Review Club and Arts and Crafts Club.

Miss. Orija called on FUNAABITES to join the Club as it will aid their quest for knowledge.

Highpoint of the Training Programme was the presentation of certificates to participants.
