The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) on Wednesday disclosed that it has neither suspended nor completed works on the reconstruction of the six-kilometer FUNAAB-Camp Road, assuring that the project is still ongoing.

FERMA Resident Engineer for Ogun State, Engr. Alex Mazoya and Progress Officer, Engr. Monday Olaogun told FUNAAB Bulletin in a phone chat that the project is still very much on course.

Engr. Olaogun stated that FERMA is presently doing Linegram, which according to him in lay man’s language means “sideway quarter”.

He pointed out that other works on the road is deliberately postponed by FERMA in order to concentrate efforts on the Linegram.

According to him, “We are on course. We have not left the road. We are still on it. It is important we concentrate efforts on Linegram, that is sideway quarter for now. Thereafter, we move to the road proper”.

Speaking in the same vein, the Resident Engineer for Ogun State, Engr. Mazoya said FERMA is still working on the road, adding, however, that there’s need to source for additional fund to complete the projects.

His words, “I am trying to talk to my people in Abuja to increase the allocation on the road because we need to complete it”.

It would be recalled that the duo of Engr. Mazoya and Olaogun met with the University Management mid-June, expressing the readiness of FERMA to reconstruct FUNAAB-Camp Road.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole described the reconstruction of the road as a topmost priority for the University.

He recalled that the road had witnessed series of patching over the years, pointing out that what was required was total reconstruction, which he said had been a source of nightmare to members of the University community for many years.
