Some FUFASS Graduating students

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, has congratulated the third graduating set of the FUNAAB Foreign African Scholarship Scheme (FUFASS).

At the graduation ceremony held recently, Senator Ogunlewe acknowledged the effort of the University in training students from West African countries, calling on the graduands to invite more people from their countries to study in FUNAAB. “Let’s invite more people from around the world to see what we can offer in FUNAAB; when you get back, tell them at home, we need more of you”, he stated.

Speaking further, “there is nothing Harvard University has that we don’t have here. We want Managing Directors of the best companies in the world to come here and study”. The astute politician said that the Transformation Agenda of the President was very clear because it laid much emphasis on access to education, thus FUNAAB was therefore on the right track.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Oyewole, solicited the support of the University to expand the horizon of the scheme, saying that “FUFASS is not stopping and not ending but expanding”.

Though the scheme had its scope of admitting students from Sierra-Leone, The Gambia and Liberia, it would henceforth extend to the whole of Africa. The Vice-Chancellor promised that the University would continue to give scholarships to deserving students, though other students would have to start paying. He admonished the graduands to be good ambassadors of the University, stating that “we might be starting small now but, the future is great”.
