A Professor of Cropping Systems in the Department of Plant Physiology, College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT), Professor Philip Adetiloye, is expected to deliver the 45th Inaugural Lecture of the University.
The lecture titled, From Grass To Grace: An Exposition on Western and African Cropping Systems, comes up on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 2 p.m. According to Professor Adetiloye, the lecture will examine the factors affecting the productivity of western and African traditional cropping systems with a view to making African cropping systems more productive by contributing meaningfully to national economic development.
Professor Adetiloye is a recipient of several national and international awards among which include the Federal Government of Nigeria Scholar (1973-1976); Grantee, Research Award, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Abuja (1995); International Socrates Award, Oxford Summit, United Kingdom; Who-is-Who in the World, Marquis, New Jersey, United States of America; the Outstanding People of the 21st Century, United Kingdom; and the Albert Einstein Iconic Achievers Award, IBC, United Kingdom. He is also a member of the following bodies: Nigerian Soyabean Association, African Crop Science Association, E-forum American Society for Scientific Exploration and GLG Global Consortium, Texas, United States of America.
The Vice-Chancellor and President, Association of African Universities (AAU), Professor Olusola Oyewole is expected to be the Chairman at the Inaugural Lecture.
