Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council has commended the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako for restoring peace to the institution, barely a year after his assumption of office.

The State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Wole Sokunbi, his predecessor, Comrade Tunde Sodeke and gave the commendation when the Vice-Chancellor, accompanied by the Head of Public Relations, Dr. (Mrs.) Linda Ogugua Onwuka, the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Peter Badmus and other Senior staff of the University paid a Courtesy Visit to the Executives of the Council at Iwe Irohin Press Centre.

Shokunbi recalled that the State Council as a body was seriously concern when crisis hit the University recently, moreso that FUNAAB is known as a peaceful institution and more importantly, as the pride of Egbaland, the home of “Iwe Irohin” Press Centre, Ogun State and Nigeria, at large.

The number one journalist in the State, however, expressed joy that within his first six months in office, Professor Salako successfully restored peace and normalcy to the institution.

Shokunbi said with the feat, the Vice-Chancellor has not only uphold the confidence reposed in him to reinstate peace in the University, but has demonstrated that he has the wherewithal to take FUNAAB to unprecedented height while in office.

Speaking further, the Chairman described the Vice-Chancellor as a lover of the media who legitimately and objectively within the confines of statutory town and gown relationship is favourably disposed to the Press and supportive of the State Council of NUJ since he assumed office.

He said for this and other strides, the Council has decided to honour Professor Salako with his investiture as Patron of the Union soon.

Speaking in the same vein, the immediate past Chairman of the Union, Comrade Sodeke charged Professor Salako to continue his good work in FUNAAB and not to rest on his oars.

He specifically charged him to take his robust rapport with stakeholders to the next level.

It would be recalled that shortly after his assumption of office, the Vice-Chancellor and his Management team, most of who were new in office at the time embarked on Courtesy Visit to Royal Fathers and organisations.

FUNAAB Bulletin recalled that during Professor Salako visit to Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, his host disclosed that he was the first Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB to visit the Centre since it was established.
