The Dean, Postgraduate School, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Wilfred Alegbeleye has stressed the need for continuous training and retraining of members of staff, particularly those in the Postgraduate School due to the sensitive nature of the job they perform.
Speaking during an In-house Retreat organized by the Postgraduate School, Professor Alegbeleye who disclosed that the activities of the School includes proper record keeping and data processing of students among other activities, said that constant training was particularly important for members of staff of the Postgraduate School as a result of the regular redeployment of staff from and to the School.
According to him, “unfortunately for us in the PG School, most often members of staff are transferred easily in this school before they settle down”.
The Dean pointed out that such transfer often affect the work being handled by the staff, hence the need for regular training so as to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of newly redeployed staff.
He commended the crop of staff in the School for their dedication, doggedness and commitment to duty, while also lauding the University Management for their support to Postgraduate School whenever a request is made.
Corroborating the Dean, the Secretary of the Postgraduate School, Mrs. Wuraola Badmus disclosed that equipped with the right skills, the Postgraduate School would continue to deliver on its mandate.
Presentations made at the retreat include “Postgraduate School Board: A Driving Wheel for Efficient Service Delivery of the Postgraduate School” by Mrs. Oluwayemisi Arigbede, “Things to Take Note of When Processing Academic Transcript” by Mr. Adedotun Arowolo, “Guide on Admission and Vetting of Result” by Mr. Akinkunmi Jiboku, and “Office Schedule” by Mr. Moses Ojeleye.
Others were “Guidelines for Oral Examination Exercise” by Mr. Jamiu Odunjo and “Guide on Processing of Thesis/Dissertation for External Assessment” by Mrs. Rachael Adesola.
