The Acting Director of the University’s Health Services, Dr. Abiodun Amusan, has encouraged members of the University community to eat more fruits especially during the harmattan season in order to prevent respiratory disorder.

Speaking during an interview with FUNAAB Bulletin Crew in his office, Dr. Amusan advised members of the University community to increase their intake of Vitamin C which he said can be attained from taking fruits and recommended sufficient intake of water to prevent dehydration.

According to him, People do not need to panic about the change in weather condition but should prevent inhaling of dust. “It is a season that is characterised by environmental dust and there is dust everywhere, that is the reason why people always come down with flu which is an Upper Respiratory Tract Infections”.

The Acting Director, charged people to use the season to increase their intake of Vitamin C in their body by eating lots of fruits as well as put on warm clothing which will protect both the young and old people from catching cold.

Doctor Amusan also recommended that people in dusty environment should cover their nose in order to prevent breathing in of dust while those who might find it difficult to cover their nose due to the nature of their job or profession should always ensure that their windows are closed.
