The mandate of the Nigeria Local Group is as follows: to strengthen the discipline (Statistics), support the profession, promote statistical literacy, ensure statistics are used in the public interest, develop networks, provide educational opportunities, act as a focal point of interests within the Society, arrange meetings, conferences or workshops for the group, arrange sessions at the Society’s annual conference (United Kingdom), promote the work and membership of the Royal Statistical Society, develop relevant external links, consider nominations for the Society’s honours and awards, arrange meetings in collaboration with Sections or Special Interest Groups. organise events for public or school audiences in partnership with a local festival, museum or other organization that already has a wider audience.
