The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has counseled Professors, who are warming up to succeed him in office not to make their ambition a do-or-die affair.
Prof. Balogun said instead, they should submit their aspirations to the will of God and eschew self interest for the sake of progress of the University.
Speaking at a Senate Luncheon, marking the end of 2010/2011 Academic Session, the Vice-Chancellor charged the would be contestants not “to heat the polity” by embracing mudslinging, blackmail, rancour and acrimony.
Rather, he enjoined them to submit themselves to the will of God by allowing Him alone to choose them or otherwise, adding that any attempt by any of them to impose him or herself as Vice-Chancellor on the University would be suicidal and counterproductive.
Prof. Balogun, however, called on members of the University community to pray God to choose the next Vice-Chancellor for them in order for the institution to sustain its steady growth.
