The town of Okemesi in Ekiti, Ekiti State stood still on July 14, 2011 when the University’s Ceremonial Committee’s (CERECOM) Chairman, Professor Babatunde Idowu laid to eternal rest his beloved mother, Deaconess Adediyun Esther Abeke Ebunoluwa Idowu amid pomp and pageantry.

Born about 93 years ago to the family of late Pa Adeogun of Ile Odole in Okemesi, Ekiti, Ekiti State, Mama during her days was trained in the art of trading under the tutelage of two of her prominent Aunts, Madam Nofi of Ile Onanurin, Odobi and Mama Oko.

“Mama Tunde” as she was fondly called was known to be a disciplinarian and a devout Christian during her days.

The Church Service which took place at the Christ Apostolic Church, Mobolorunduro District Headquarters, Odo-Ijana, Okemesi-Ekiti witnessed an impressive turn-out of staffers of the University of Agriculture (UNAAB), who were led to the ceremony by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun who was spotted in a white flowing agbada.

Also present, were Professor Tope Popoola, Dean, COLNAS; Professor Babatunde Kehinde, Dean, COLPLANT and Professor Samuel Oluwalana, Dean, Student Affairs, among others from the University.

Deaconess Adediyun Esther Abeke Ebunoluwa Idowu was survived by four children, Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren.
