The VC, Prof. Olusola Oyewole addressing the University community.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, the work has started”. With this open declaration of intent, the new Vice-chancellor of the University, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole swung into action on his first official working day, Thursday, May 24, 2012.

Professor Oyewole, who made the declaration at the prayer session, marking his irst day in office, said he would, as a matter of urgency, attend to the electricity and Internet needs of the University, which he promised to confront head-long.

“Let me mention to you that as soon as I finish up with you here, I will get hold of the Director of Works and Services, to ensure that our generators are working. I have been told that our Internet has not been working, too. We also need to ensure that Internet operates everywhere”, he added.

FUNAAB Bulletin reliably gathered that Professor Oyewole immediately met with the Director of Works and Services, Engineer (Mrs.) Omolola Banjo, directing her to put the generating sets in good shape in order to supply power to critical segments of the University.

The Vice-Chancellor also met with the Director, Information and Communications Technology Resource Centre (ICTREC), Dr. Abayomi Oguntoye on the need to create an Internet Hot Spot in major buildings on campus, to allow for easy access.

He pleaded with members of the University community, to bear with him as he will be away for the next one week, to attend to official duties and will not be able to commence the traditional familiarization tour, immediately.

The Vice-Chancellor called on staff and students, to give him their maximum support and prayers, to take the University to greater heights.

He also charged them to discharge their duties with discipline, justice, equity and transparency.

“One of the things that God has put in my mind to do is to ensure that things get better in this University on a daily basis”, he added.
