The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole, has approved the organisation of the 2012 FUNAAB’s Staff Unity Games, to be played at the University’s Sports’ Centre.
A release, signed by the Director of Sports, Mr. ‘Bayo Oluwatoki, informed that the games were organised to further consolidate and promote social interactions among the staff as well as create a conducive environment for healthy rivalry, scouting and selection of potential competitors for the forthcoming, annual Nigerian Universities’ Staff Sports Championship.
The release added that the format to be adopted at the games will be the single elimination, while draws will be through balloting, with a representative of each team, in attendance.
The draws will hold on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Directorate of Sports’ Board Room at 11.00am.
Games to be competed for and the number of participating teams are: Football (18 players: men only), Tennis (Men and women: 2 players each), Table Tennis (Men and Women: 2 players each) and Squash (Men and Women: 2 players each).
Others are, Badminton (Men and women: 2 players each) and Chess (Men and women: 2 players each).
