The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has held a send-forth party for the 2011/2012 Batch B corps members that served in the University.

Speaking at the occasion, the Registrar, Mr. Mathew Ayoola, encouraged the outgoing corps members to be good citizens, advising that they should see their leaving as an opportunity for greater advancement in life.

Represented by the Deputy Director, Establishment Matters (Senior Staff), Mr. Omowon Agbotoba, the Registrar charged the outgoing corps members to be responsible and hardworking.

Clarifying the worries on retaining corps members in the University, he stated that FUNAAB does not discriminate, noting that there are equal employment opportunities for anyone who applies whenever vacancies are advertised.

However, he appreciated the outgoing corps members for their peaceful conduct in FUNAAB and Ogun State and wished them best of luck in their future endeavours.

Commenting on their experiences, one of the corps members, Mr. Taoreed Taiwo, described his stay as wonderful, adding that he almost wished not to leave.

While Mr. Raji Ibrahim, one of the in-coming  Batch A corps members, thanked the management and the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, for the opportunity given them to serve in “this great University”.

Ibrahim stated that a major problem faced by corps members posted to FUNAAB is rejection, while pleading that, the University management should try as much as possible to reduce the rate of rejection of corps members, so as to alleviate the sufferings of the batch coming after them.

The outgoing Internal Corps Liaison Officer (ICLO), Miss Titilope Oriade, expressed gratitude to the management and staff of FUNAAB for their supportive roles to the corps members, adding that to whom much is given, much is expected.
The high point of the day was the presentation of a sign-post to the University by the Corps members.

Miss Oriade however pleaded that a bus should be made available to the corps members every Thursdays, during their Community Development Service (CDS) days, to ameliorate their weekly sufferings, each time they travel to Odeda Local Government Council headquarters for the programme.
