After surviving the intense pressure put on them by the University’s Male Staff Football team, the visiting Federal College of Education (Osiele) Staff Club, made away with a lone goal in the first encounter of a friendly football match.
Apparently hungry for an opening goal, the host team kept up a decisive game till the tail end of the first half which ended in a goal-less draw.
The beginning of the second half of the tension-soaked encounter presented a more determined FUNAAB Team holding the midfield and dominating the tournament. However, the opponents capitalised on the opportunity which came when the wet pitch slipped a FUNAAB defender, while attempting a harmless shot in the Box 18 which net in the lone goal to the disappointment of the home fans.
The Director of Sports, Mr ‘Bayo Fatoki, however, has not given up. He promised to beat the FCE Team on their own soil during the return leg coming up in approximately two weeks.
